Everyone is invited to join Lake Commission member Levonn Hubbard on September 8th to take a guided hike of the new Soldier’s Beach Trail at Meadow Park Lake. This new trail was named after the World War II German and Italian prisoners who would be escorted to the lake where they would bathe. The trail passes by the area the prisoners used.
Everyone is to meet for the 9:00 a.m. hike at the trail head parking lot on City Lake Road. For more information, contact the Park Office at 931-788-2034. Admission is free. Everyone is Welcome!
Soldier’s Beach Trail will also be included in the September 2015 Hiking Trail Marathon. Nine (9) trails in Fairfield Glade/Cumberland County have been identified to make up 26.2 miles. Participants will have the entire month of September to complete either a 13.1 (half-marathon) or the full 26.2 (full-marathon). This is not a race but rather a “go at your own pace” fun event.
